Thomas's "Song"

For each of my children, I have picked an old hymn that I sing to them each day. Each hymn has pieces of Gospel truth that I hope they will cling to and remember throughout their whole life.

For our Thomas Abel, I sing "The Solid Rock"

My hope is built on nothing less
Than Jesus blood and righteousness
I dare not trust the sweetest frame
but wholly lean on Jesus name.

On Christ the solid rock I stand
All other ground is sinking sand.
All other ground is sinking sand.

I pray for Thomas that he would always remember that Christ is the only firm foundation we can stand on. I pray that he would find his hope there.

When darkness seems to hide His face
I rest on His unchanging grace.
In every high and stormy gale
My anchor holds within the veil.

On Christ the solid rock I stand
All other ground is sinking sand.
All other ground is sinking sand.

I hope that Thomas will know that Christ never changes. Our circumstances in life change often, but our God never does. He is an anchor in times of joy and in times of sorrow.

His oath, His covenant, His blood
support me in the 'whelming flood.
When all around my soul gives way
He then is all my hope and stay.

On Christ the solid rock I stand
All other ground is sinking sand.
All other ground is sinking sand.

I pray that when Thomas is going through a season of struggle, that he would set his gaze on Jesus, and trust in Him completely. There is always hope and joy to be found in Jesus no matter the circumstance because Jesus offers us everything that this world cannot. Jesus can offer freedom from sin, eternal life, fellowship with God. Nothing is greater.

When He shall come with trumpet sound
O may I then in Him be found
Dressed in His righteousness alone
Faultless to stand before the throne.

On Christ the solid rock I stand
All other ground is sinking sand.
All other ground is sinking sand.

I pray mostly that Thomas will repent of his sin and trust in Christ in salvation. For the one who does this will be found in Christ when he returns. I pray also that Thomas will look forward to day of the Christ's return! What joy can be found in the hope that Jesus will return again as He has promised?!

"The Lord is my rock and my fortress and my deliverer, my God, my rock in whom I take refuge, my shield and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold." Psalm 18:1
