Tweito- Family of Three!

We are proud to announce that on June 1, 2013, Peter Josiah Tweito was born! He was 9lbs 6oz and 22.5 inches long. We are so excited and blessed to have him as our sweet baby boy, and we are all doing well.

I am so thankful to the Lord that He has chosen to bless us with this little life. I am thankful that my husband, Josh is a fantastic father and great leader for our family. He has a prepared a little something to let all of you know why we have decided to name our son Peter Josiah.

Carly and I have decided to name our first son Peter Josiah.

Peter
Peter was a disciple of Christ and author of two epistles in the New Testament, 1 and 2 Peter. Peter is portrayed as one of Jesus’ inner three disciples along with John and James. His name was originally Simon, however Jesus renamed him and from then on he is usually referred to as Peter, Simon Peter, or Cephas (the Aramaic version). He was the leader of the early New Testament church. Because of Christ, Peter was beaten, imprisoned, and crucified upside down. The name Peter itself comes from the greek word Petros which means Rock. We desire for our son ,Peter Josiah, to be like a rock, strong and firm in the Lord.

Josiah
Josiah was one of the few good Kings of Judah. In 2 Kings and 2 Chronicles, the people of Judah are worshiping idols and living in disobedience to the Lord. Then the book of law is found and read to Josiah. Immediately Josiah rips off his clothes (a sign of mourning in those days). He realizes that Judah had not been living up to God’s standards and he is extremely heartbroken over his sin and his people’s sin. He then attempts to reform Judah. He has all idols destroyed and has the book of law read to all of Judah. In Hebrew Josiah means, "YHWH supports" or "God supports." Peter Josiah literally means, "rock God supports." We hope our son, Peter Josiah, stands firm in the Lord like, A "rock" that "God supports".

Peter Josiah
I have no idea what Peter Josiah will be like. However, one quality that I know with certainty that Peter Josiah, Peter and Josiah will all have in common is sin. We desire for Peter to be like these men not because they are great and mighty in themselves, but because they know that they are nothing in themselves, simply wretched sinners under the wrath of God. Their righteousness was not their own, but Christ's.
We want Peter Josiah to be like Peter and Josiah who responded to their sin, when confronted by God, with faith and repentance. Peter denied Jesus three times in Jesus’ last hours. Josiah, as King of Judah, allowed and practiced idolatry. Both recognized their wickedness and instead of sulking in it or ignoring it, cried out to the Lord for forgiveness in humility with faith and repentance. Our prayer is that our son, Peter Josiah, will one day find this salvation that Peter and Josiah found. Which is the same salvation that Carly and I have found by the grace of God, and that salvation is in the blood of Jesus Christ.

And now here are some sweet pictures of our new family. There will be many more to come!

Here is a not so pretty picture of our preparation for a C-section. (I will post more about our birth story in my next post)
