After moving from Kentucky, putting our things in storage and after weeks of traveling, we were excited to begin our drive up to Vermont. We drove from Richmond, Virginia to Hartford, Connecticut on our first day. I can say with certainty that I have never been in that many states in a single day before (Virginia, Maryland, Delaware, New Jersey, New York, and Connecticut). On this day we were awed as we drove by many big cities and watched them pass through our windows.
The next day, we made the drive from Hartford to Williston,Vermont (one 3 states that day: Connecticut, Massachusetts and Vermont). Over those two days, it was a long way to go and the boys were very tired of riding in the car. But we pressed on and made it!
The excitement we experienced crossing into Vermont was overwhelming. We stopped at the first welcome station to stretch our legs and take some pictures.
As we drove through Vermont, we were completely awestruck by God's creation. The gorgeous mountains everywhere we looked were breathtaking. What surprised me the most however, was that in the foothills of all the mountains were many beautiful farms. These farms had the mountains as their backdrop and they were awesome to look at. The beautiful creation that God made here is just indescribable and our pictures do it no justice.
" By awesome deeds you answer us with righteousness, O God of our salvation, the hope of all the ends of the earth and of the farthest seas; the one who by his strength established the mountains, being girded with might; who stills the roaring of the seas, the roaring of the their waves and the tumult of the peoples, so that those who dwell at the ends of the earth are in awe at your signs. You make the going out of the morning and the evening to shout for joy." Psalm 65:5-8
On our way to Williston, we stopped for a little excursion at the Ben & Jerry's factory. We took a tour of the factory and got some free samples of ice cream also. I think the boys were happiest on this stop.
When we arrived in Williston, we still had several days before our new apartment would be ready for us to move in. The founder of NETS and his wife graciously offered us a place to stay in their basement until our move in day. We cannot express how grateful we are for their hospitality to us during this season.
We enjoyed getting to explore our new city for a few days before we moved in to our new home. We were able to scope out some new parks, museums, places to eat and even where to grocery shop.
When Saturday arrived, we were so excited to find our new home and get moved in! Actually I will say that excited probably doesn't quite cover it. But, moving and unpacking with two toddler boys is no easy feat. It would have been impossible for us to do this without the support we had from our new church (Christ Memorial Church) and the NETS staff. We were overwhelmed with the outpouring of people who showed up to help us load and unload trucks, watch our children, carry boxes and furniture, unpack boxes, and even provide meals for us. Here is a picture of all the NETS interns and the tremendous amount of brothers and sisters in Christ who came to help. Praise God!
