The Birth of Thomas Abel

In the weeks leading up to Thomas's birth, we were on our knees praying that I would go into labor on my own and not have to go in for our scheduled C-Section on Thomas's due date. But the Lord [graciously] answered our fervent prayers with a firm "no."

On the morning of June 10, 2015 Josh and I woke up early and arrived at the hospital at 7:30 in the morning. We got settled into our surgery prep room. We anxiously awaited for our operating room to open up. Around 10:30 we were finally abel to walk to the operating room.

The doctors had Joshua wait outside the room, while I walked in and sat up on the table. To be honest, this was one of the most frightening moments of my life. I was literally shaking with anxiety and fear as I walked into the sterile and bright room. The doctors administered a spinal tap (which hurt more than I anticipated) and laid me down on the table. The doctors and nurses started coming in and making sure everything was ready. After what seemed like an eternity, Joshua was finally able to come in and sit by head for the procedure. The procedure was quick and I enjoyed being alert for this C-section and able to ask questions.

After just a few minutes, Thomas came out screaming loud and clear! Seriously they were the sweetest screams I have heard (as this is not how I describe his screaming anymore). He came out with a full head of beautiful dark hair. By God's grace we did have a C-Section which was not our hope. But, His plans are always better and we were thankful because Thomas had a double knot in his umbilical cord and it was wrapped around his neck twice.

We were shocked to discover that he weighed 9 lbs and 7 oz (more than Peter!) and he was 21 inches long. We were in love. We were wheeled to the recovery room where I got to enjoy the best snuggles ever with my newborn baby. After we were settled into our postpartum room, Peter arrived and got to meet Thomas for the first time. We were just amazed that Peter took so well to him. Peter fawned over him and was so excited to hold "BayBay Top-iss" (baby Thomas) as he calls him. We were thankful that Peter has just accepted Thomas as part of our family and rarely shows jealousy. This is by the grace of God alone and we are grateful!

We are blessed beyond measure that the Lord has given us two beautiful boys. Please join us in praying that we would have wisdom as parents to train them up in the fear and admonition of the Lord. Pray also with us that our boys would come to know the Lord Jesus as their personal Savior at an early age.

To Him Be The Glory!

And now for some pictures of our beautiful boy!
