Today is Day 3 of Thanks & Praise: Blessed by a Bookshelf.
Today I am thanking and Praising God that He has given me His Word on my very own bookshelf.
I think that books are something we take for granted in our society. We live in a society (and I live in a house) where there a dozens of books that can help us gain a greater understanding of our God. In our house, we have two bookshelves that contain nothing but Bibles, Bible Commentaries, Devotionals, and other books that are written to encourage and spur a Christian on in the good fight. We may have two bookshelves in our house (so far), but in our society there are countless titles that we have yet to get our hands on!
In our society the word of God is readily accessible. We can walk into pretty much any bookstore and we have a great number of Bible translations to choose from. We can choose from the ESV, NASB, KJV, NLT, and the list goes on. But there are people in the world who do not even have ONE Bible that is in their own language, let alone countless books to encourage them and spur them on.
Please take just a few minutes to watch this video of an Indonesian tribe who is receiving the Word of God translated into their own language for the first time! Look at the joy, celebration and excitement these people have written all over their faces!
Now go open your Bible (if you don't have one let me know and I will personally make sure you get one) and rejoice and cherish the Word of God that is readily available to you. God makes Himself known to us through His word and it is at your fingertips! Turn off your TV, turn off your video games, put down your phone and go soak up the Word of God. Don't take it for granted!
Love,
Carly
