This past week has marked a huge milestone or at least what seems like a huge milestone for me: reaching 30 weeks in pregnancy. This feels huge because now when I think of how much time is left I can count the number of weeks on my fingers. :-)
I'll give you a recap of what pregnancy has been like so far in this last trimester...
-Heartburn x 100000000
-Fatigue (the most annoying thing ever is being told multiple times a day to enjoy my sleep now while I can. This statement is impossible to achieve considering I wake up 3-5 times a night from a sharp jab in the ribs or some other organ, the need to pee, hip/back pain, and just the general discomfort of having another living and moving human being inside me. And yes I look forward to the sleepless nights when I will actually be able to hold this child in my arms)
-cankles
-Anxiety in thinking about all I need to do before he gets here
-Feeling like he will never come
-Feeling like he is coming too soon
-excitement
-joy and sweet relief each time he kicks because I know he is still healthy and growing
-did I already say fatigue? :-)
Fatigue brings me to the point of this post: diligence
Let me just say that fatigue has led to laundry taking days to get done, household chores getting postponed, etc.and this week The Lord has revealed to me the importance of being diligent and intentional with things in my life.
As I looked around at our house last Friday I thought to myself: "Holy cow! How did this place become such a disaster?!" I was immediately overwhelmed by the ginormous task of cleaning this house.
I dreaded the task and thought there was no way it could ever be done. It was here that The Lord reminded me how important diligence is. Had I been diligent throughout the week even in little things, it would not nearly be so bad.
Friday evening we had dinner with our neighbors/good friends. I spoke with my friend about how overwhelmed I was and she told me to just chip away little things all the time. For example each time you go upstairs take 1 thing with you to put away. Just one. Well this got me thinking because even as tired as I am, I can take one thing with me when I'm already headed upstairs. How easy is that? I just have to be diligent about doing it.
So, Saturday I spent the afternoon cleaning our mess of a house and resolved to be diligent this week about keeping it clean.
And here is how the Holy Spirit works through me cleaning the house and resolving to be diligent:
He says: my sweet child you are learning diligence through something tangible right now... A mess in your house. But this lesson is not just for how to keep your house clean. It is much more important than that. Your house is your spiritual walk with Me. Be diligent to spend time with Me whether you have 5 minutes or 5 hours. You don't want to let your pathway become cluttered by things that will take your eyes off Me. Be diligent and give Me attention when you are tired, when you are weary, when you are joyful, when you seem to be doing great. Be diligent always.
And bam! there you have it. It is amazing when the Holy Spirit uses mundane, and even worldly things to point you to Himself.
So my friends, my prayer for you all this week is to be diligent. Be diligent in your worldly work and be diligent with your Heavenly Father who loves you more than you can comprehend.
Blessings,
Carly
