Our time together as husband and wife has been filled with many joys, tears, laughter, love and change. In our first year we graduated from USC, got new jobs, moved to a new state, josh started seminary and now we are expecting our first child. I'd like share a glimpse of what God has taught me throughout this year...
1) God is strong and faithful. He will never let you down. There is absolutely no way that Josh or I could live through any day without clinging to this hope. As the hymn says... "Tis so sweet to trust in Jesus, just to take Him at His word"
2) I am more sinful than I ever could have imagined. This time as Josh's wife has showed me how selfish and sinful I am (I hate to admit it but I'm sure I won't ever be able to fully comprehend it either). God has been using our marriage as a tool of sanctification. He points out the ugliness of my heart and just when I think it can't get much uglier, I realize that I am dead wrong on that one.
3) God's mercy and grace is enough for me. Referring back to number two makes this revelation so incredibly sweet. "While we were still sinners Christ died for us" Romans 5:8. As much as God reviles my sin, He loved me enough to come right down into it and suffer in my place. I am deserving of His wrath but because of His love, mercy and grace, He bore that wrath for me. Amazing! And let me assure you, He wants you to know this and rely on His grace and what He has done for you on the cross.
4) God is a miraculous creator. I have been struck by his creativeness and awesome creations as I have travelled places and been exposed to him through animals He has made, sights He has created and much more. But never have I truly grasped how incredible it is, since becoming pregnant. It is truly incredible to think that God is knitting together this little boy inside of me, that he used Josh and I to create this little one who is precious to Him. It boggles my mind to think that The Lord loves this boy and has every day of His life planned and every hair on his head numbered. As I feel him kick me and roll around inside I am awestruck by our Creator. He is amazing and deserving of praise.
I could probably add hundreds of more things God has been teaching me, but I will leave it at that for now. I will go to sleep rejoicing in our King and thanking him for all he has done, is doing and will do. May all praise, glory and honor be to Him.
Blessings,
Carly
